Swatch: OPI Danke-Shiny Red

Today I have a swatch post on OPI's Danke-Shiny Red!

Danke-Shiny Red is gorgeous red with sparkly red micro-shimmers from OPI's Germany collection, which I believe can be described as frost finish?

Frost finish polishes usually leaves brush stroke marks and this polish does too, but not obvious. I usually can't stand brush strokes but this is acceptable to me because you really can't see it unless you look very very closely.

Application is fantastic for this polish! It's super smooth and very easy to apply, I used 2 coats for this swatch!

I only had this on for a while for photo taking, but I noticed hints of staining when I removed it, so I advise maybe a double coat of base coat before putting this polish on.

A close-up on the micro-shimmers!

I love this color! It's not like any of the reds I have, so I'm really glad I picked it up. What about you? :)

Tutorial Tuesday!

I have another group mani today! And incase you noticed, I decided to give up on black background because it's really too hard to get a good picture with it. :(

Usually I would get my picture in one or two shot, but with black background, it's endless snaps and still no good photo. So hello white again~

Today's theme was to do our nails based on a tutorial and so I decided to do one of the tutorial from Robin Moses! Robin Moses is a great nail artist but her nail arts are usually way out of my league. This is probably the only I can do.

I didnt want to do them differently for each hand so I did alternate polka dots and stripds between each nail. My polka dots are quite okay but my stripds are not. How did she get those straight lines!!

Floam Gradient!

Finally I got around to using my Floam since I got it awhile ago. I decided not paint all my nails with Floam because I'm already anticipating the nightmare of removing it, so for my other nails, I decided to pick colors in my polish stash that are closest to the glitter polish!

For my pinkie, ring & index fingers, I did a gradient following Nailasaurus's Gradient Tutorial with China Glaze Lemon Fizz, China Glaze Four Leaf Clover and OPI Ogre-the-top Blue.

Lastly, I stamped over them using one of my favourite design from the new Bundle Monster plates BM-321 and special Konad Black. Seriously, the 3rd Bundle Monster plates is a must get for all polish lovers who stamps! The designs are all so unique and pretty, and they all stamps great! Major love here!

What do you think of my mani today? I personally loved it. How about you? :)

Simple Floral

Does my photo look different today? :)

Some of my friends in PLOP were talking about nail polish clean up and going all the way to the cuticles or leaving a gap the other day, and I must say, I'm guilty of not doing clean up most of the time.

I am also guilty of painting all the way to the cuticles because gaps looks like grow-outs to me, especially those big gaps which I see online sometimes, and I am not a fan of grow-outs.

Anyway, the 'talk' made me guilty a little and I decided to do clean up today. I still painted all the way for the side my nails, but I left just a tiny bit of gap at the top. And I must say, it looks great in the picture! It almost looked professional *ahem* to me and I am loving it!

I also changed the background of my home-made lightbox from white to black. 'About time I think. I should had done this long ago. I'm not sure why my black doesn't look BLACK black, but still, it brings out the nail color so well!

For my mani today.. I didnt put much effort into it unfortunately. I had such a bad cold and my nose was dripping LITERALLY. I'm removing this now. Bye!

Racey Lacey

I have another lace sticker mani today! I was really busy this week so stickers are the quickest way to go!
I used 2 OPI polishes for my mani - OPI 'Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI?' from the Holland Collection, and OPI 'I'm All Ears' from the Vintage Minnie collection.

OPI 'Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI?' is a dark purple creme with gold orange shimmers, and OPI 'I'm All Ears' is a beautiful bright pink jelly with even brighter pink shimmers!

Between these 2, OPI 'I'm All Ears' is my love.. I just cant get over this jelly beauty! Cant wait to try a jelly sandwich with this! :)

Monochrome Monday!

Yay! I am super hardworking this week! 2 posts in a row! Today we have another group challenge and it's Monochrome Monday!

For today's post, I did black and white nautical nails using OPI Alpine Snow as base, and added black strips using stripping tapes and Wet n Wild Black Creme. This is my first time using Wet n Wild's Black and it's great! It's even thick enough to stamp, although the stamped image is as opaque as Konad's special Black polish.

For my accent nail, I stamped the anchor image from Bundle monster plate BM-08 using Konad special Black polish.

It took a lot of time and patience for me to complete this set of manicure but I'm really pleased with the results! I think I'm getting the hang of tape mani already! Slow and steady is the key~~ :)

Stamping Sunday: Circle, Circle, Dot, Dot

Welcome to today's Stamping Sunday! For today's challenge, we're supposed to do Circles or Dots and I did some Holo circle stamping!

I actually took alot of pictures today as I couldn't see the holo-ness in my small camera screen and thought the camera couldn't capture, but it did!

I had to choose through the twenty over pictures and finally selected 5 pictures to post here! :)

For the base, I used BK holographic polish number 9 which is a beautiful aqueous blue! BK holo polishes are pretty affordable considering that they are 15ml compared to HITS which are only 6ml.

BK Holo no. 9 isnt very opaque though.. For the base, I used 3 coats to achieve this effect, but I guess you can get away with 2 especially if you are going to stamp over it.

For the stamping, I used China Glaze Electra Magenta - one of the China Glaze Limited Edition polish from their Tronica collection - with Bundle monster plate BM-19.

Thinking that the Holo-ness wasnt captured on camera, I decided to try the finger poses that Chalkboard Nails do.. and the effect was great!

So what do you think? Is it better with bottle or without?
