Simple French Tips

Sorry for disappearing for such a long time.. I'm still painting my nails, I just got really lazy in taking photos of them and posting them up. =P Quite a few times I really wanted to post about my nails but didnt take any photos until it started to chip.. -.-"

Anyway I just did a simple french tips today, hope you'll like it. I also used fimo for the first time! Yes, I'm slow.. I know.. =P

Fimo confuses me. I dont know if I'm supposed to put top coat over it as it's kind of 3D and pops up (not sticking entirely to the nail). I didnt put top coat for this as I have a really strong feeling it'll destroy the manicure and I'm pretty determine to post this 1 up so I dont want to spoil it.

The fimo looks like it'll fall out any moment though..

See you peeps next time! Hopefully I'll get the feeling to start posting regularly again. Chaos!

Halloween Challenge Oct 1 - Horror Movie

I have mentioned this briefly in my previous post, I am going to take up challenge together with some of the PLOP girls this Halloween!

Hopefully I will be able to complete this challenge in time this time as some of  you may remember, I actually took more than 2 months to complete the 31 days challenge previously!

Now I present you... The Halloween Nail Art Challenge!

The first challenge is for Horror Movies so I did.. Frankenstein Nails!

To give my Frankensteins an identity for themselves and differentiate them from all the Frankensteins out there, I gave them all their own facial expressions and hairstyle. Isn't it cute? :)

My favourite out of them would be the geek middle parting guy on my ring finger.. Haha.. Which one do you like?

Frankly speaking, I am not looking forward to the next challenge - water marble. I suck at it and I think it's a real waste of precious polish. I might play cheat a little.. I dont know yet.. Stay tuned!

Black Kitty!

Wah! Am I on a Halloween nails marathon? LOL

Today's manicure is inspired by a few kitty manicure posts I saw on Pinterest - which I combined into today's mani! How do you like it?

Speaking of Halloween manicures, I might be taking up a challenge throughout October to create a series of Halloween inspired nails. Hope you would look forward to it as much as I do! :)

Early Halloween - Little Monsters

It's stamping day today!

For my base color today, I used Color Club Worth The Risque - a beautiful silver holo polish, and stamped with Cheeky Summer plate CH32.

I am totally in love with this plate! It stamps so well and the monsters are really cute. The best thing is, the full  image design is really huge and covers my thumb nail plate easily! :)

I think Cheeky Summer plates is going to replace Bundle Monster set 3 as my favourite set of plates soon!

Lava Lamp Nails!

This is a manicure inspired by this tumblr post I saw! Thought that it's really cute and I really have to try it!

Sorry for the tipwear and nail growth though! I actually had this manicure on for a week before I took a picture of it. I'm in a reading mode these days and can hardly take my eyes off a few books that I'm reading.

I promise I'll do more nail art and post more pictures once I'm done with reading! :)

Swatch: China Glaze Hello Gorgeous

Hey ladies! I have another glitter swatch post today and it's China Glaze Hello Gorgeous! Very appropriate, don't you think so?

Hello Gorgeous! is one of the two glitter polishes in China Glaze's 2012 Breast Cancer Awareness collection - United In Purpose.

Hello Gorgeous! is a mixture of a few colours of small fine glitters, mainly baby pink, light gold and holographic glitters in a clear base. It is very similar to 'I'm Not Lion' from the Safari collection, just changing the champagne glitters to baby pink.

The other glitter in the collection - United, is very similar to Hello Gorgeous! except that it's about a shade darker.

In direct sunlight. Formula for this polish very good, it's smooth to apply and gives complete coverage in 2 coats. It'll be the type of glitter that covers the base completely rather than a layering glitter.

Hello Gorgeous! also dries matte and still have the grainy feel after 1 coat of Seche Vite. At least 2 coats of top coat is needed for smooth and shiny look.

I was lucky to be able to catch the sun while I have this polish on, or I will usually take indoor artificial light photos. :)

Last but not least, the sparkly holo glitters!

My verdict for this polish is - It gorgeous, it's BABY PINK and it sparkles. Definitely must have! :)

Swatch: China Glaze Glitter Goblin

Today I have the glitter polish - Glitter Goblin from China Glaze's 2012 Wicked Collection!

Glitter Goblin is filled with small copper hex glitter mixed with some holographic glitter in a clear base!

The application for this polish is very sheer initially, I was hardly able to get much glitters on the brush. However as the clear polish becomes gloppy after a while, it actually became much easier to apply. I dont know if it's good or bad news. -.-"

This is 3 coats of the glitter polish!

(Left) One Coats, (Right) Two Coats

A close up of the glitter!

I guess this polish is okay, quite pretty but not a must have. However, I just cant resist limited edition + glitter so I have to get it! :)

What do you think? Will you be getting this?

Group Mani - Geometric!

Hello Girls! I have another group mani today and the theme is Geometric!

My take on Geometric nails is inspired by a mani I saw on Pinterest! There are seriously a tonne of great manis on Pinterest and I'm really tempted to do a string of Pinterest inspired manicures!

For my mani today, I used 3 of the polishes from China Glaze's Bohemian collection - 'Unpredictable', 'No Plain Jane' and 'Deviantly Daring' and created some geometric shapes using stripping tapes.

There is a strand of my dog's fur stuck on my ring finger. I apologize for that. LOL

My favourite out of these 3 polishes is definitely 'Deviantly Daring'! The formula is simply great, it's opaque in one coat and the color is simply gorgeous!

On the other hand, both 'Unpredictable' and 'No Plain Jane' are still sheer and create bald spots on one coat and definitely needs at least two coats.

What do you think? Do you love this mani like I do? :)

Singapore National Day 2012

It's Singapore's 47th National Day on 9th August so as tradition, I'm doing national day nails today!

I did 2 last year which in my opinion was not that good, but managed to get many likes for it, so I'm hoping that this year's would be better.

Red & White are Singapore's colours so I painted my nails with my favourite Red polish - OPI Red My Fortune Cookie and stamped the design from Bundle monster plate BM-301 with Konad special white polish.

I also dug out the stars from Kleancolor Blind Date and dotted them onto my nails as I already had a few layers of topcoat in between each coats and I didnt want my manicure to become too thick.

I think my national day nails this year is pretty cute, hopefully it's much better than last year's.. haha.. Happy National Day Singapore!

Sonoma Nail Art - My Three Glitters

Today I have Sonoma Nail Art's 'My Three Glitters' over OPI 'Come To Poppy'!
'My Three Glitters' is an indie polish created by Sonoma Nail Art - which consist of black and white glitters in all shapes and sizes!  There's big and small hex glitters, bar glitters, square glitters and even parallelogram glitters! LOL

Seriously loving the contrast of this polish over 'Come To Poppy'!

I also tried layering OPI 'I'm All Ears' over the combo for a jelly sandwich. I do like the effect of the fuchsia shimmers, but the white glitters seems to have disappeared under the jelly. :(

So what do you think? Jelly yay or nay?

Swatch: OPI Unfor-Greta-Bly Blue

Today I have a swatch on another polish from the OPI Germany Collection - Unfor-Greta-Bly Blue!

Unfor-Greta-Bly Blue is a beautiful frost blue - with more teal than what is translated on the pictures. Tends to leave some brush stroke marks, but not something you should be too concerned about as it's not very obvious.

I can also see bits of sparkly blue micro-shimmers in the bottle, but doesnt really translate on the nail. Formula for this polish is great, and would definitely need 2 or more coats to be opaque.

The colour looks similar to another OPI colour in the past but the name escapes me for the moment and I can't remember what it's called.

This is not a colour that I would normally pick up but it's really cool. It's unique - at least to me, since I dont have anything like this in my collection. I'm definitely digging it!

Swatch: OPI Danke-Shiny Red

Today I have a swatch post on OPI's Danke-Shiny Red!

Danke-Shiny Red is gorgeous red with sparkly red micro-shimmers from OPI's Germany collection, which I believe can be described as frost finish?

Frost finish polishes usually leaves brush stroke marks and this polish does too, but not obvious. I usually can't stand brush strokes but this is acceptable to me because you really can't see it unless you look very very closely.

Application is fantastic for this polish! It's super smooth and very easy to apply, I used 2 coats for this swatch!

I only had this on for a while for photo taking, but I noticed hints of staining when I removed it, so I advise maybe a double coat of base coat before putting this polish on.

A close-up on the micro-shimmers!

I love this color! It's not like any of the reds I have, so I'm really glad I picked it up. What about you? :)

Tutorial Tuesday!

I have another group mani today! And incase you noticed, I decided to give up on black background because it's really too hard to get a good picture with it. :(

Usually I would get my picture in one or two shot, but with black background, it's endless snaps and still no good photo. So hello white again~

Today's theme was to do our nails based on a tutorial and so I decided to do one of the tutorial from Robin Moses! Robin Moses is a great nail artist but her nail arts are usually way out of my league. This is probably the only I can do.

I didnt want to do them differently for each hand so I did alternate polka dots and stripds between each nail. My polka dots are quite okay but my stripds are not. How did she get those straight lines!!

Floam Gradient!

Finally I got around to using my Floam since I got it awhile ago. I decided not paint all my nails with Floam because I'm already anticipating the nightmare of removing it, so for my other nails, I decided to pick colors in my polish stash that are closest to the glitter polish!

For my pinkie, ring & index fingers, I did a gradient following Nailasaurus's Gradient Tutorial with China Glaze Lemon Fizz, China Glaze Four Leaf Clover and OPI Ogre-the-top Blue.

Lastly, I stamped over them using one of my favourite design from the new Bundle Monster plates BM-321 and special Konad Black. Seriously, the 3rd Bundle Monster plates is a must get for all polish lovers who stamps! The designs are all so unique and pretty, and they all stamps great! Major love here!

What do you think of my mani today? I personally loved it. How about you? :)

Simple Floral

Does my photo look different today? :)

Some of my friends in PLOP were talking about nail polish clean up and going all the way to the cuticles or leaving a gap the other day, and I must say, I'm guilty of not doing clean up most of the time.

I am also guilty of painting all the way to the cuticles because gaps looks like grow-outs to me, especially those big gaps which I see online sometimes, and I am not a fan of grow-outs.

Anyway, the 'talk' made me guilty a little and I decided to do clean up today. I still painted all the way for the side my nails, but I left just a tiny bit of gap at the top. And I must say, it looks great in the picture! It almost looked professional *ahem* to me and I am loving it!

I also changed the background of my home-made lightbox from white to black. 'About time I think. I should had done this long ago. I'm not sure why my black doesn't look BLACK black, but still, it brings out the nail color so well!

For my mani today.. I didnt put much effort into it unfortunately. I had such a bad cold and my nose was dripping LITERALLY. I'm removing this now. Bye!

Racey Lacey

I have another lace sticker mani today! I was really busy this week so stickers are the quickest way to go!
I used 2 OPI polishes for my mani - OPI 'Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI?' from the Holland Collection, and OPI 'I'm All Ears' from the Vintage Minnie collection.

OPI 'Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI?' is a dark purple creme with gold orange shimmers, and OPI 'I'm All Ears' is a beautiful bright pink jelly with even brighter pink shimmers!

Between these 2, OPI 'I'm All Ears' is my love.. I just cant get over this jelly beauty! Cant wait to try a jelly sandwich with this! :)

Monochrome Monday!

Yay! I am super hardworking this week! 2 posts in a row! Today we have another group challenge and it's Monochrome Monday!

For today's post, I did black and white nautical nails using OPI Alpine Snow as base, and added black strips using stripping tapes and Wet n Wild Black Creme. This is my first time using Wet n Wild's Black and it's great! It's even thick enough to stamp, although the stamped image is as opaque as Konad's special Black polish.

For my accent nail, I stamped the anchor image from Bundle monster plate BM-08 using Konad special Black polish.

It took a lot of time and patience for me to complete this set of manicure but I'm really pleased with the results! I think I'm getting the hang of tape mani already! Slow and steady is the key~~ :)

Stamping Sunday: Circle, Circle, Dot, Dot

Welcome to today's Stamping Sunday! For today's challenge, we're supposed to do Circles or Dots and I did some Holo circle stamping!

I actually took alot of pictures today as I couldn't see the holo-ness in my small camera screen and thought the camera couldn't capture, but it did!

I had to choose through the twenty over pictures and finally selected 5 pictures to post here! :)

For the base, I used BK holographic polish number 9 which is a beautiful aqueous blue! BK holo polishes are pretty affordable considering that they are 15ml compared to HITS which are only 6ml.

BK Holo no. 9 isnt very opaque though.. For the base, I used 3 coats to achieve this effect, but I guess you can get away with 2 especially if you are going to stamp over it.

For the stamping, I used China Glaze Electra Magenta - one of the China Glaze Limited Edition polish from their Tronica collection - with Bundle monster plate BM-19.

Thinking that the Holo-ness wasnt captured on camera, I decided to try the finger poses that Chalkboard Nails do.. and the effect was great!

So what do you think? Is it better with bottle or without?

Summer Nails!

It's summer time! And summer reminds me of the beach!

For today's nails, I used China Glaze Electric Beat as the base, and sponged OPI Miso Happy With This Color over the bottom half of the nails as sand. To make it look slightly more realistic, I added a coat of China Glaze Candie over Miso Happy With This Color for the sparkly sand in the sun look.

Summer also reminds me of bright colors, so I used Icing Pre Game over China Glaze Electric Beat on my accent finger!

Pre Game is such an interesting polish! It's clear base filled with bright neon(?) glitters, but not normal glitters. They are shredded glitters! I love how they are all irregular and look more like confetti than other normal glitter polishes!

Check out my cute little pair of beach slippers on my thumb as well! :)

A-England Lady In The Lake

Today I have A-England Lady In The Lake on my nails!

Lady In The Lake is a deep purple holographic polish that is simply simply gorgeous! A-England holo polishes are quite interesting, they all seems to be scattered holos, yet there is a faint and very obvious line of rainbow under the sunlight.

I also finally tried stamping with the french tip plates! I have lots of them but never tried them as I though they're weird and too thick.. My nails are fairly short so there's no way I can stamp in the whole image and it'll still be tips.

So anyway.. this is it! I stamped with BM plate BM-216, the design that looked like a peacock tail.. I only stamped part of the image so it wouldnt be too big on my nails.. What do you think? :)
